Before & After: A home called Junebug

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

If you think of a great place to live wouldn’t an all-American bungalow, including a porch and the works, be on your list? It’s on mine for sure!

overview01

Jessica and Erik from Portland, Oregon bought a 1920s bungalow earlier this year and have been renovating for a fair few months. What’s interesting is that their keen eye for vintage details helped them draw a line between what needed to be stripped, fixed or preserved. This resulted in a very delicate balance between the old and the new, blending the two seamlessly together and making for a warm and welcome home. Here are a few before and after pictures:

Shop!: Wannekes.com

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

I’ve been fiddling around with the site’s layout this weekend and made a few changes, for the better in my opinion! As I mentioned earlier I wanted to add a second sidebar. Well.. let’s just say that is a work-in-progress for now. Can’t stop updating though, life goes on!

Dutch interior stylist Tanneke Neessen created a webshop for all things worth buying to spice up your home. I’ve been wanting to post about this shop for a very long time, but eventually forgot about it. That is until I found old screenshots of some of the wonderful items sold on Wannekes.com. Prices go through the roof for us Ikea and Hema folks, but it can’t hurt to drool over some stunning designer darlings, don’t you think?

Bubbles lamp by Jaime Hayón for Bosa, Wallpaper Clouds by Saint Honoré Wallcoverings, Woodstokk bowl by Wik & Walsøe, Stamped and Sealed earrings by Kiki van Eijk, Killim cushions by Arzu Firuz, Seraphine cage by Georgios Maridakis for Spell, Herkimer candleholder by Arik Levy for Gaia & Gino and Stuffed Cabinet by Josef Blersch and Mander Liefting for Snodevormgevers.

Interior Design: vegetating chairs from Vitra

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

French Vitra designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, who you might know from the popular decoration pieces called ‘Algues’ now created chairs that they named Vegetal, pretty much in the same vain as the Algues.
Inspired by nature’s organic shapes, these chairs resemble a group of trees strangled into another, together creating a layered and asymmetric construction. Yet their designs are remarkably practical. They’re made of sturdy polyamide and are even stackable. Add some bright colours to the mix and you should be ready to plant those plain ol’ whites by the trash.

Keep an eye on the Vitra website for availability.
